My experience with Barrett Real Estate has been an ongoing nightmare from the moment I moved in. For the first three weeks, I did not even have a working refrigerator and was forced to live out of a cooler, despite paying full rent for a home that was supposed to be ready and habitable. The pool equipment was broken and I had no idea what terrible condition the interior of the pool was when I rented the home. The pool has been deemed unusable and unsafe. Despite repeated reports, photos, and professional recommendations that it be drained and repaired, Barrett Real Estate has failed to properly resolve the issue and has excuse after excuse. I have continued paying full rent while also absorbing the additional electricity and water costs associated with pool equipment for an amenity and backyard I cannot use. The landscaping has been just as unacceptable. Yard maintenance that was supposed to be the property management’s responsibility was neglected for so long that it ruined the entire backyard. What should have been a usable outdoor space has deteriorated into an area that is now completely unusable. When I moved in the front yard grass was in very poor condition, they had their landscaping company turn the water up increasing my bill to pay for weeds to grow and they are deeming me responsible to take care of it. Throughout this experience, communication has consisted of repeated follow-ups, delays, and excuses rather than meaningful action. I have received no fair compensation for the unusable pool, the destroyed backyard, the added utility costs, or the money I spent addressing maintenance issues that were not my responsibility. Do yourself a favor and do not rent anything from this company.
